St. Vladimir’s Seminary Press (SVS Press)—the largest publisher of English-language titles about the Orthodox Christian faithin the world—now has assumed responsibility for the publication and distribution of Christian education materials. The Press, which is known for its books on church history, patristics, spirituality, iconography, biblical studies, hagiography, liturgical music, and other aspects of Orthodoxy, has entered into an agreement with the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), to distribute educational resources for church schools and teachers, and those engaged in faith formation for all ages.
On December 22, 2009, SVS Press assumed the entire current stock of the Orthodox Christian Publications Center (OCPC), the publishing arm of the OCA, and will be responsible for the marketing, sale, and distribution of all of its educational titles. The Press now is processing the OCPC inventory, and will be ready to sell and distribute the materials by April 2010.

The agreement between the Press and the Orthodox Church in America was approved by the Metropolitan Council of the OCA, and presents a “win-win” situation to both parties. Archpriest Alexander Garklavs, chancellor of the OCA, said, “We are thrilled with this new arrangement. For the OCA, this means an opportunity to profit from the excellence, professionalism, and efficiency that are the hallmarks of SVS Press.”
SVS Press Director Theodore Bazil concurred, “The assumption of the OCPC inventory will lead to exciting possibilities,” he said. “Among them will be the ability of the Press to expand the markets for educational material already published, and to reprint currently out-of-stock titles. We are committed to providing a high level of customer satisfaction in the sale and distribution of this material.”
Remarking upon the new agreement, Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, secretary of the OCA, said, “We believe this new partnership will allow OCPC to continue to serve the Church and to reach an even wider audience."
