Alumni E-News from St Vladimir's Seminary February 2004 Volume 4, No. 2 Dear Friends, I trust that your Feast of Theophany was filled with light and joy. Many of you remember the wonderful campus tradition of the blessing of Troublesome Brook after the Theophany Liturgy. That tradition took a new turn this year. Troublesome Brook was bone-dry due to the action of the City of Yonkers, which closed down its source for fear of flooding. As a result, a newly-built fountain on campus became the location for this blessing. The fountain is located in a courtyard between the Chapel and the Rangos Building. Named after seminary benefactors, the Boich Family, the courtyard is a beautiful and tranquil place for reading, study, and fellowship. In its center rests a bubbling fountain that flows year-round. Please visit our website for photos: http://www.svots.edu/Three-Hierarchs-Chapel/2004-theophany/index.html . Everyone agreed that the new location for the blessing of water was an appropriate one. The spring semester is well underway as I write this issue. Students arrived rested from the last semester and are looking forward to the new one. Let me share with you some news from the campus. DEAN AND RECRUITMENT OFFICER TRAVEL TO INDIANAPOLIS During the break, the seminary faculty and staff were active. Dean Erickson and Very Rev Steven Belonick flew to Indianapolis, IN to attend a conference on Youth Ministry hosted and sponsored by The Fund for Theological Education, Inc. Over two hundred people from various seminaries belonging to the Association of Theological Schools gathered to share their experience and gleanings about the youth programs they have held annually over the past ten years with funding by Lilly Endowment. Although St Vladimir's does not receive any funds from Lilly for its Youth Institute for High School Juniors, we were invited to participate in the worthwhile discussions on the basis of its involvement in other Lilly initiatives in ministry.
