27th Annual Orthodox Education Day (OED) Saturday, October 5, 1996 St Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary 575 Scarsdale Road, Crestwood, New York 10707-1699 Vocations: The Work of God's People A Full Day of Prayer, Fellowship, and Educational Events Sponsored by St. Vladimir's Theological Foundation The Work of God's People is the theme for this year's Orthodox Education Day, to be held at St. Vladimir's Seminary (Crestwood, NY) on Saturday, October 5, 1996. Entrance is free. All events will take place whether rain or shine. Call 914-961-8313 (M-F, 9-5 EDT), if you need directions. St. Vladimir's Seminary is located 20 miles north of central Manhattan (30 minutes by train from GCT on the Metro-North Harlem Line) in Westchester County Fr. Thomas Hopko, SVS Dean and Professor of Dogmatic Theology, will deliver the keynote address for the day. SVS faculty members and Orthodox laity from various fields will conduct discussion groups on issues related to vocations in such areas as: - the ordained ministry
- the monastic life
- the ministry of women in the Church
- the ministry of all baptized Christians in their everyday life and work
In addition to the educational sessions, the day includes: - Liturgical services: Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, memorial service, and Vespers
