Advancement Officer (Capital Campaign)

St Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary, a graduate school serving approximately 125 students, faculty, and staff in the Crestwood neighborhood of Yonkers (Westchester County), New York, is seeking to hire a full-time Advancement Officer with responsibility for all facets of the seminary's on-going capital campaign and the advancement data administration records and input. The Advancement Officer (Capital Campaign) reports to the Associate Chancellor for Advancement.

John G. Rangos BuildingSpecific job responsibilities include:

  • Achievement of the targeted annual giving goal
  • Maintains donor relations with the second tier annual donors
  • Cultivates new charitable relationships with potential contributors to the seminary
  • Managing personal data portfolios and major donor prospects
  • Develops detailed strategies and goals for each appeal, which will include:
    • Direct asks, follow-ups, and thank you calls
    • Donor relations via phone, mail and personal visits
    • Some travel involved to visit individual contributors, potential contributors, and organization
  • Supervises financial and personal data input and record keeping
  • Produces standard reports and tracking data
  • Contributes to policy and procedural matters related to the tracking of donor and other constituent data at the seminary

The position requires an undergraduate degree with excellent writing, communications, and personal skills. A working knowledge of The Raiser's Edge or similar constituent management software and demonstrated experience in fund raising is required.

Production Assistant

St Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary, a graduate school serving approximately 125 students, faculty, and staff in the Crestwood neighborhood of Yonkers (Westchester County), New York, is seeking to hire a temporary part-time (20-30 hours / week) Production Assistant. The Production Assistant will support the operations of St Vladimir's Seminary Press, the largest and most active publisher of Orthodox Christian books in the English language, and the seminary's other departments and offices. The Production Assistant reports to the Director of SVS Press and takes work direction from the Art Director.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the production, design, and printing schedule of books, CDs, catalogs and other marketing pieces.
  • Coordinates projects with printers, editorial department, marketing, and freelance designers as necessary.
  • Helps maintain production schedules and the reprinting of out-of-stock books.

Required skills

  • Attention to detail, ability to work with many different projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to be a "self-starting" with high motivation.
  • Excellent command of English language and grammar.
  • Knowledge of print production (experience working with printers) and graphic design basics.
  • Facility with Mac OS application usage and ability to master technical procedures. Command of Microsoft Office applications and at least one other graphics or print design application (Quark preferred).

Required background

  • Two years of college or equivalent post-high school education or experience.

Desirable skills

  • Working competency with Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional, and InDesign.
  • Interest in book publishing.

This is a temporary part-time position with opportunity for renewal. This is an excellent opportunity to work with an active, high-profile publisher.
