Orthodox Education Day, 1997

This year's Orthodox Education Day -- the seminary's annual open-house event for its friends and neighbors -- will be held October 2 and will focus on the theme: "Come, Lord Jesus! Apocalyptic Writings in the Bible."

Fr. Paul Tarazi, professor of Old Testament and author of a new introductory volume on St. Paul's epistles and St. Mark's gospel, will offer the keynote address and lead a discussion session later in the afternoon.

The day will begin, as usual, at 9:30 AM with a Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Beatitude Metropolitan THEODOSIUS, president of SVS and primate of the Orthodox Church in America. There will also be a memorial service for departed friends of the seminary at 3:45 PM. The day will end with Vespers at 5:15 PM.

The program will also feature musical performances by several choirs. A variety of food, including pastries and other desserts, will be available. The SVS bookstore will offer a special discount throughout the day, and several church-related groups will have educational exhibits.
