On Saturday, October 4, 2003, St Vladimir's Seminary hosted its 34th annual Orthodox Education Day. This annual event gathers hundreds of visitors from near and far, for a day of liturgical celebration, Christian fellowship, delicious food, and education about the Orthodox Christian faith.

The day began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, presided by His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN. Concelebrating with him were Bishop DIMITRIOS of Xanthos and Bishop SAVAS of Troas, both of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Bishop MERCURIUS of Zaraisk (Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in America), Bishop NIKON of Baltimore, Auxiliary to His Beatitude. Responses were sung by the choir of St Mark Orthodox Church of Bethesda, MD (Scott Cowan, Director), and the seminary chorale, directed by David Drillock and Kevin Smith.

After the liturgy, the faithful went out into the food tents to enjoy fellowship, with food prepared in a variety of ethnic traditions.

The rest of the day's activities featured lectures and workshops, all centering around this year's theme of "Orthodox Tradition: Yesterday and Today."
