St Vladimir's Seminary warmly invites all to attend the Thirty-seventh Annual Orthodox Education Day scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2006. This year's theme is: "All Ages, One Faith: Exploring the Inter-Generational Nature of the Orthodox Church."
This annual outdoor event draws large groups of people from Orthodox parishes all over the country for a day of worship, education, and fellowship. Tents on the lawn will house the Divine Liturgy and the keynote address, a special display of books and other items from SVS Press and Bookstore, a variety of ethnic foods, and special activities for children. Campus tours throughout the day will provide opportunities for our visitors to see more of the life of the seminary "behind the scenes".
The day will begin at 9:30 am, with His Beatitude, Metropolitan HERMAN leading bishops, priests, and faithful from many Orthodox communities in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. After a break for lunch, the keynote address and afternoon workshops will explore various aspects of the day's theme.
St Vladimir's is pleased to announce that our new Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology, Fr Harry Pappas, will deliver the keynote address, speaking of his experiences serving a large community with parishioners of every age.
Orthodox Education Day is free of charge, open to the public, and will take place rain or shine.
Visit these pages as Education Day approaches for updated information on the day's schedule, workshops, speakers, and exhibitors.
