Baptism and Chrismation
in the Orthodox Church

A Week of Study for Musicians, Educators, Pastors
June 22-27, 1997

Theme

Baptism and Chrismation

Human beings enter the Church of Christ by dying and rising with Jesus Christ through baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and through chrismation with the seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The Summer Institute will deal with the theological, spiritual and pastoral significance of baptism and chrismation through biblical, historical and liturgical analysis and reflection. Attention will be given to the celebration of baptism and chrismation in the Orthodox Church today.

Music Tract

The music section offers classes in directing and composing liturgical chants in various traditions and styles.

Institute Faculty

Members of St. Vladimir’s Seminary faculty and invited guest speakers deliver lectures and lead theoretical and practical discussions.
