On October 26, 2007, His Eminence Nathaniel, Archbishop of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate (OCA) was the first to participate in the new "hierarchs in residence" program at St Vladimir's Seminary. This is a part of the new curriculum being implemented this year where each semester one bishop is asked to spend at least one full day at the seminary. The bishop is invited to teach, have informal exchanges, to share meals, and to monitor classes. Any and all interested seminarians have the opportunity to meet individually with the hierarch as well.
While on campus, His Eminence presided at a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for St Demetrios where Dn Paul Coats was ordained to the Holy Priesthood. The Archbishop then enjoyed brunch with students and faculty, which gave each student an opportunity to introduce themselves. Later that afternoon, Archbishop Nathaniel gave a rousing speech on the Orthodox Church's imperative for administrative unity in America. Following Vespers, His Eminence concluded his busy day on campus at a dinner with the SVS faculty.
Photographs from the Divine Liturgy and the Archbishop's brunch and talk with seminarians are available.
