During the second half of May, SVS Press was again “on the road” promoting its popular range of titles to two very different audiences.

From May 21 – 23 the Press had a table at the annual conference of the “North American Patristics Society” (NAPS), which is held in Chicago. The conference brings together several hundred teachers and students of the Church Fathers from colleges and universities all over North America and beyond. As in previous year the SVS “Popular Patristics Series”, now numbering some thirty-seven titles, was in considerable demand. Both teachers and students appreciate the fluency of the translation they offer and the accompanying introductions and commentaries to these important early Christian texts.

From Chicago it is only forty miles to St. Charles, Illinois, where every year “The Religious Book Trade Exhibition” (RBTE) is held. This show brings together over one hundred buyers from both independent and chain bookstores. Also in attendance were many key executives from the Christian publishing world, providing an invaluable opportunity to stay in touch with developments in the wider trade. SVS received some good orders from both Protestant and Catholic bookstores. The booth was run jointly with Conciliar Media Ministries of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America. It was encouraging to see how much more can be achieved when different Orthodox publishers work together to give their work a wider impact.
