We will celebrate the Divine Liturgy on the two Saturdays preceding
Great Lent and on all Saturdays during Great Lent.
On the two preceding Saturdays (March 1 & 8) and on the 2nd, 3rd, and
4th Saturdays of Great Lent (March 22, 29, & April 5), we will make
general commemorations of the departed the evening before at a
Panikhida, and during the Divine Liturgy both at the Litany for the
Departed and at the Litê of the Panikhida, which is celebrated at the
conclusion of the liturgy.
As such, please note the following:
If you wish to have the names of departed remembered at these
liturgies, clearly write the names down on one of the commemoration
slips located at the back of the Chapel. These names can be passed on
to any of the seminary clergy or one of the sacristans. Once passed
in, the names will be remembered at all of these services.
All seminary priests and deacons are asked to come to Divine Liturgy
on these days by at least 8:30 am, even if they are not scheduled to
serve the liturgy that day, and assist in remembering the names of
the departed.
As is traditional, kollyva will be offered as a memorial to the
departed on these days, as well as the 1st Saturday of Great Lent
(March 15) when the kollyva will be offered as a memorial to St.
Theodore the Recruit. As such, we are asking for volunteers to make
the kollyva for these days. There is a sign up sheet for volunteers
in the back of the Chapel.

Altar Servers and Handmaidens |

In conjunction with the beginning of a new academic year, we are asking that those youth who wish to serve in the Chapel as either an altar server or a handmaiden contact Fr. Alexander Rentel or sign their name on form located on the candle desk in the Chapel narthex.
Altar servers and handmaidens serve distinctive public ministries during the Divine Liturgy in our Chapel on Sundays and feast days. We are grateful that our children can take part in the liturgy actively and continue their growth in Christ.
General Considerations
The privilege of serving as either an altar server or a handmaiden is extended to all those youth who attend Chapel services regularly. Especially when scheduled to serve, we expect altar servers and
handmaids to be present in church (for Great Vespers) on the eve of the liturgy.
Altar servers and handmaidens must be in second grade or older. Altar servers and handmaidens are to follow the instructions of the chapel clergy, the seminarian sacristans, and the handmaiden
coordinators.
When scheduled to serve, we expect altar servers and handmaidens to dress appropriately. Young men should wear a collared shirt and trousers with dark dress shoes; hair should be neat and not a distraction, either to themselves when serving, or to others. Young women should wear
dresses, skirts and blouses, or dress pants and blouses; no sleeveless tops.
Altar servers should arrive fifteen minutes before the beginning of the Divine Liturgy and handmaidens before the ringing of the bell.
Short orientation sessions for altar servers and handmaids will be held separately during the month of September. Please contact Fr. Alexander if there are any questions
