TRAVELS and VISITS: Dean, Chancellor, Faculty, SVS Press Travels; Visitors to Campus
Over the summer of 2014, Fr. Chad ministered in Guatemala, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Kansas, and served as Co-Chair of the Orthodox Church in America/Anglican Church in North America Dialogue.
Our dean Fr. John Behr travels in the U.S. and overseas, presenting retreats and book studies, meeting with other seminary administrators and students, and serving on non–profit boards. A renowned patristic scholar, Fr. John lectures in academic and popular venues.
In September, Fr. John journeyed to the Monastero di Bose in the province of Biella, Italy, to participate in the XXII International Ecumenical Conference on Orthodox Spirituality. Billed as scholarly, cultural, and ecclesiastical exchange, this year's conference focused on the timely topic, "Blessed are the Peacemakers."
Our faculty members frequently travel to offer presentations at symposia, lecture at other seminaries, participate in inter-Orthodox and ecumenical dialogue, and provide continuing education for clergy and laity.
In August and September, Assistant Professor of Canon Law and Byzantine Studies The Very Rev. Dr. Alexander Rentel served the wider church as Consultant for Canonical Affairs for the Orthodox Church at a Statute Revision Task Force meeting, and at a Clergy Conference. Read the full story.
Marketing and Operations Manager The Rev. Dn. Gregory Hatrak logs many miles for SVS Press and Bookstore throughout the course of the year, both in the United States and abroad. Sometimes joined by the Dean or Chancellor, Editor-in-Chief The Rev. Dr. Benedict Churchill, or SVS Press Production Manager Michael Soroka, Dn. Gregory meets academics, clergy, various alumni, and numerous lay readers, answering their questions, recommending titles, and doing the set-up and tear-down for the traveling bookstore.

St. Vladimir's beautiful campus in Yonkers, NY, is host to many distinguished guests both in the school year and over the summer.
On August 30 and 31, The Most Rev. Melchisedek, archbishop of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, Orthodox Church in America (OCA), joined in welcoming twenty-two new students to campus during Orientation Week.
