St. Ambrose Society Hosts Public Lecture with Dr. H. Tristram Engelhardt

Dr. Tristram EnglehardtDr. Tristram EnglehardtThe St. Ambrose Society, St. Vladimir's Seminary's Pro Life group, is hosting a public lecture to be given by Dr. H. Tristram Engelhardt, professor of Philosophy at Rice University, and professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, both in Houston, Texas. Titled "Preaching the Word of the Lord: Being an Orthodox Christian in a Post-Christian Public Square," the lecture is scheduled to precede the Seminary's participation in the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. The March is slated for Friday, January 25, 2013, on the anniversary of the infamous Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Engelhardt is also a popular lecturer, and the author of several publications including The Foundations of Bioethics. He also contributed to a book of essays published by St. Vladimir's Seminary Pres, titled Living Orthodoxy in the Modern World.

The lecture will take place from 4:30–6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2013, on the campus of St. Vladimir's.
