Ceremonies will begin at 2:00 p.m., with a “Prayer of Thanksgiving” in Three Hierarchs Chapel, followed at 2:30 p.m. by Commencement Exercises in the Metropolitan Philip Auditorium of the John G. Parallel Love Theatrical Premiere

[img_assist|nid=29125|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=250|height=250]Parallel Love: The Story of a Band Called Luxury is the story of a band from Georgia, a band with three members who went on to study at St. Vladimir's Seminary and are now Orthodox priests. On the verge of success in the 1990s, the band suffered a devastating accident—an accident that led Priests Christopher Foley (’06), James Bozeman (’12), and David Lee Bozeman (’12) to Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Meet the band members at the theatrical premiere of the documentary in New York City, May 15-19. Director Matt Hinton and members of Luxury will take part in a Q&A session each evening following the screening of Parallel Love.

Lessons & Carols: Music of the Christmas Season from East & West

[img_assist|nid=29382|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=300|height=389]Hear St. Vladimir’s Seminary Chorale perform western and Orthodox carols at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church’s annual Christmas concert. On Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m., St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary (SVOTS) and Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in East Meadow, NY are partnering to present an evening of carols, hymns, and scripture readings in preparation for the celebration of the Holy Nativity of our Lord. Under the direction of Robin Freeman and former SVOTS faculty member Dr. Nicholas Reeves, Holy Trinity’s choir director, the combined choirs will sing familiar carols and Orthodox liturgical hymns interspersed with readings from the Old and New Testaments.

37th Annual Fr. Alexander Schmemann Lecture: Celebrating 50 Years of Autocephaly

His Eminence, Archbishop Michael of New York and the Diocese of New York and New Jersey will headline events on January 30, the Feast of the Three Hierarchs. As part of the special celebration, three more distinguished speakers will be featured in workshops throughout the day along with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, Mid-Year Commencement, the launch of a special 50 th anniversary commemorative book (published by SVS Press and edited by Academic Dean Dr. Alexandru Tudorie), and a reception. 2020 Pan-Orthodox Music Symposium

Discover “Music as Liturgy” this summer—from home! Plans for the 2020 Pan-Orthodox Music Symposium have been reconfigured to a global online format on Thursday, June 11 through Saturday, June 13, 2020. The event, cohosted by St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary (SVOTS) and the International Society for Orthodox Church Music (ISOCM), will explore the theme of “Music as Liturgy” with masterclasses, keynote presentations, and workshops.

Georgian Scholarship Fundraiser

[img_assist|nid=29449|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=250|height=316] Hieromartyr Grigol Peradze of Georgia (1889-1942) was a profoundly gifted theologian, historian, and linguist who used his vast knowledge for the sake of others. He preached and published homilies, worked tirelessly to recover and preserve treasures of Georgian Orthodox history and culture, and imitated the Lord he so fervently pursued in his studies as he sacrificed his own life to save others in the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz.
