This will be the third of the new Popular Patristics Series: Longer Works. Longer Works is an extension of the classic SVS Press series designed to publish major, full-length patristic texts that are too long for the traditional Popular Patristics Series format. 

St. John of Damascus’ magnum opus, The Fount of Knowledge, serves as the defining culmination and recapitulation of the previous seven centuries of patristic theology. The work has a threefold structure: first St. John walks the reader through the basic philosophical terminology and logic necessary to understand his work; then he describes the many different heresies that have arisen, including a fascinating look at how Christians saw Islam in the century after its founding; and then he expounds the truths of the Christian faith. This work stands as one of the great monuments of Christian thought from the first millennium of the Church, and St. John must be seen as the synthesizer par excellence of the patristic tradition.
