The events of the day have been moved forward into the afternoon and evening, out of respect for a neighborhood fireman who was killed in the line of duty on Tuesday morning, September 27, during an explosion in the Bronx.

Book Launch, The Ways of Childhood

Dr. Chad Hatfield, St. Vladimir's Seminary CEO, and the Reverend Dn. Gregory Hatrak, Director of Marketing and Operations for SVS Press and Bookstore, will be attending the Parish Life Conference of the D ioceses of Los Angeles & the West, and Eagle River, for the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. A book launch will be hosted for the new Press release, The Ways of Childhood. Additionally, Fr. Chad is serving as a keynote speaker, and his topic will be "The Three Ways to Know the Lord."

The Very Rev. Dr. John Behr, Dean: Visit to Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Armenia

[img_assist|nid=19831|title=|desc=Gevorgyan Seminary|link=none|align=left|width=300|height=174]On June 13, 2016, with the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, the Reverend Mardiros Chevian, St. Nersess Armenian Seminary Dean, will accompany SVOTS Dean, the Very Reverend Dr. John Behr to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the spiritual and administrative headquarters of the worldwide Armenian Church. The purpose of the visit is for Fr. John to better understand the academic program offered at Gevorgyan Seminary and to further discuss the possibilities of inter-seminary collaboration between Gevorgyan, St. Nersess, and St. Vladimir's seminaries, including an exchange of faculty and students, courses of study, and library books.

They also may be wondering if they will be able to pass on any wealth to their children or grandchildren. Certainly, the words of Scripture, "God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Cor 9:7) present a challenge to most believers nowadays, as they wrestle with the Scriptural admonitions "to give generously" (Ps 37:21, Rom 12:8), while facing job losses, pay cuts, and even home foreclosures.

[img_assist|nid=20126|title=|desc=Dr. Lewis Patsavos, retired professor of Canon Law and director of Field Education at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology|link=none|align=left|width=231|height=285]On Monday, January 30, 2017, Dr. Lewis Patsavos, retired professor of Canon Law and director of Field Education at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, will deliver the 34 th Annual Father Alexander Schmemann Lecture, titled: “Reflections of a Canonist: Account of a Teaching Ministry Spanning Four Decades." Dr. Patsavos earned his Doctorate in Theology from the University of Athens, Greece in 1974, and he subsequently taught at Holy Cross for 40 years. His dual responsibilities of teaching Orthodox Canon Law and directing the school’s Field Education Program enabled him to experience the pastoral nature of the canons contextually in ministerial settings.
