In Memoriam: Khouria Christina Tassos

With faith in Christ and hope in the resurrection, we share news of the repose of Khouria Christina Ann Tassos, an alumna of St. Vladimir’s Seminary. A devoted servant of Christ and His Holy Church, Kh. Christina lived a life defined by deep faith, joyful hospitality, and unwavering commitment to the Orthodox Christian tradition. She fell asleep in the Lord on July 30, 2026.

Kh. Christina and her husband, Archpriest Michael Tassos, faithfully served at St. Luke Orthodox Church in Garden Grove, CA, for the past 16 years and ministered to several other parish communities in the Antiochian Archdiocese prior to that. Kh. Christina and Fr. Michael met as students at St. Vladimir’s Seminary in the 1990s.

Born January 23, 1960, Kh. Christina grew up in Charleston, WV, and was an active member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral. She attended both West Virginia University and the University of Charleston and ultimately obtained a nursing degree and became an RN, working in hospitals, home health, and eventually outpatient surgery centers. Always active in church ministry, she also worked as a nurse at Antiochian Village church camp.

Throughout her life, Kh. Christina extended Christ’s love and kindness to everyone she met. She had a rare gift for making people feel welcomed and cherished. Her parish family will fondly remember her for her radiant spirit, her deep love for the people of God, and her dedicated devotion to baking the prosphora.

Kh. Christina is survived by her loving husband Fr. Michael, daughters Caitlin (Taylor) and Juliana, son Nicholas, and granddaughter Anastasia.

May her memory be eternal!
